Patient Focus is one of Ireland's leading national patient advocacy organisations. Formed in 1999, Patient Focus provides a point of contact and other supports to patients who have been damaged by the Healthcare system. We assist people to try and resolve difficulties as early as possible after they arise. We also aim to ensure the preservation and enhancement of patient rights in all healthcare settings.

What we do
Too many people are harmed physically, emotionally and psychologically by healthcare in Ireland. Patient Focus aims to address the causes of this harm, support patients and to resolve difficulties as early as possible after they arise. We do this by acting as a point of contact for patients and/or their families, supporting and empowering them in addressing their issues and ensuring that lessons are learned by the system as a result. We will assist people make complaints, accompany people to meetings, inquests and court cases as necessary.
Currently, Patient Focus offers support and advice to hundreds of damaged patients and/or their families annually. Advice on patients' rights and other relevant issues is also given to the Government and others as necessary. Patient Focus can offer support and advice on issues like Medical errors, Healthcare Acquired Infections such as MRSA or C Diff as well as any other area where a person feels they have been damaged.
Formed in 1999, we are a registered charity. We are a national organisation with a unique insight and expertise in the Irish healthcare system. Patient Focus has developed links with numerous institutions, professional groups and other organisations providing healthcare in Ireland and abroad. We also have a range of International contacts through our membership of the International Association of Patient Organisations (IAPO).
